Nikon D90 users come here!
Hey, I just recently bought a Nikon D90 and I'm wondering if anyone has suggestions as far as things to get with it.
I'm planning on getting a 50mm 1.8 lens and I'm getting my Lowepro bag tomorrow.
Is there any filters, hoods, other lens, accessories that you'd recommend as must haves?
Thanks in advance!
I bought the Nikon D40 last summer and I love it! I love photography but I haven't had time to look into all the different settings and what all the buttons do.lol I would recommend getting a UV Lens filter that you put over the lens. It produces sharper, more vivid images and it protects the lens from getting scratches and dirt AND it's only $10. My parents bought me the 55-200mm lens and I LOVE it! I saw at Walmart they have a cover for Nikon cameras that covers the whole camera itself for $20. I've only found it in one store and it's far away from where I live. I kick myself for not getting it when I saw it. Most lenses come with hoods that go over it. Mine came with a really soft case for the lens, but if your doesn't, I would recommend getting one to pretect it. Also, I've hear that when you attach the lens to do it quickly so the dust particles don't get stuck in between.
thanks for the help! I would love a macro lens!
You're welcome! Yeah that was my big gift for Christmas. Basically the only thing I wanted.lol But of course my mom LOVES to shop for stuff so I had other things too.
I'm looking into the 18-55mm and the 55-200mm.
The camera didn't come with a 18-55mm lens?
My D90 came with the 18-105mm lens. I've heard it's not good from too many people. So, I just sold it on ebay for a nice chunk of change. I'll use that to buy my new lens.
I'm planning on getting the 18-55mm lens, a hood, some filters, a lens cleaning kit, and a decent memory card with the $$. I'll end up getting the 50mm later on down the road. If I get into photography (I bought this as a camera that can grow with us and use it mostly for pics of my kids and stuff) I'll get more lenses as needed. :D
Oh ok. A 18-55mm is a basic lens, but like you said, if you get into photography, you can always get more lenses. Good luck with it!
Thanks I'm excited and looking forward to taking plenty of pics!
Ill shoot my friend the link to this thread and see if he has any pointers.
Im a Canon guy myself so I wont bash you for having a Nikkor lol :)
