can i put these in a 20 gallon

Im planning on getting a 20 gallon soon, i already thought of what fish im gonna get but im not sure if they will be comfortable. i want to get 6 guppies, 6 neon tetras, discus, 2 ghost shrimp, and a clown pleco. can i ?

Everything but the discus would be fine.

I've never kept discus....but I'm almost positive, like austin said it's a no-go in 20G tank...

unless you want fry, make sure you buy same sex guppies or you'll be over run with babies

The discus definitely won't fit.

What are your water parameters (pH and hardness specifically)? Neons appreciate softer, acidic water but the guppies like harder, more basic water. If it's somewhere right in the middle you might be ok with both, though.

ahhh good point, missed that one batman!

is there anything you recommend to put in the tank

I would say choose guppies or tetras and take out plecos because they are messy maybe make it a tetra tank with 8+ neon tetras and 8+ other kind of tetras

Clown plecos are pretty tiny little guys and not very messy so far as plecos are concerned, so it should be fine in a 20g.

I like to fill "niches" with stocking. In a tank this size, a school of fish for the middle/upper section, a school of corydoras or something similar for the bottom, the pleco and maybe one other "centerpiece" fish like a gourami or dwarf cichlid would result in a pretty nice tank.

I had a perfectly happy little Bulldog plec in a 20g tank for a few years. Great little pec. Not timid once he got used to me. Would follow my finger around the glass.
