Found fish egg, or not?
Hi, I'm a beginner as a pet fish this is my first time having a fish. i just started the aquarium about a week ago, i have a 10 G aquarium for 2 Mickey Mouse Platy ( 1 of my platy have a blue color on the fin, just started a few days ago, not sure why), 2 Peppered Catfish, and i just add 2 Long Finned Zebra Danio yesterday.
This morning when i checked on the fish i found a small, thick, white bubble on my aquarium glass it kind scattered in the glass. i'm not sure what it is or what should i do with it. if you guys can help me that will be great, since i'm extremely new in the fish area.
Welcome to the forum!
Was there just the one egg? Do you notice any other little "rings" where other eggs might have been? It's not uncommon for cory cats to lay eggs on your glass so that could have been what it was. Unfortunately, in a community tank like that the eggs don't have a good chance for survival since the fish will be eager to eat the eggs (or any fry, should the eggs hatch). If you had a breeder box, you might be able to remove the eggs with a razorblade and put them in the breeder box to see if any hatch, but this might be difficult as cory eggs are notoriously fungus-prone.
If you don't have any intentions on saving the eggs or fry, you can just leave it there. It won't cause any problems or anything.
its been 2 days and the eggs still there, i don't think we're going to keep them since we dont have any space for the babies so i'm just going to leave it there for now and we'll see how it goes.
do you know what is going on with my platy that turns blue?
thank you so much for the info.
Fish change colors quite a bit, depending mostly on stress levels and breeding and things like that. I would say that if your platy became more blue, that's probably a sign of him becoming less stressed and coloring up. I'm not aware of any illnesses or anything like that that would turn a fish blue.
