How doe this look... do I have anything to worry about?
hi....if your setting this tank up for fish then you NEED to get that amonia down to 0....amonia is a death wish for any fish....also if its for fish then purchase some tap safe or something as this will remove harmful toxins that could halm fish......but if you "planted" tank has only got plants in then this water is fine.....hope this helps :):):)
Those readings are for your tap water I understand. So that means there is ammonia in the tap water, which does occur in some parts of the country. Not to worry, I would use a water conditioner that detoxifies ammonia and you'll be fine; there are several brands. Most detoxify by changing ammonia to ammonium which is harmless, and with plants they need the ammonium as their preferred source of nitrogen. The water conditioner detoxifying ammonia just means when you do a water change with tap water the sudden influx of ammonia won't be harmful. Plants and bacteria use ammonium.
Thanks Byron I'm will be using Prime to condition my tap water... I believe it detoxifies ammonia
+1 on using Prime. Just know that even thou Prime detoxifies Ammonia you'll sill get a reading then testing ammonia as your test will pick up the ammonium; so more then likely unless something happens with your water there you'll always have a ammonia reading of 1 but its detoxified so no worries about your fish there.
