odd fish behavior

Hi guys, I have 1 male and 3 female platys in a 10 gallon tank. Recently I've noticed that the females like to just sit on the bottom of the tank and they look like they are asleep or something. They just sit/lay there not moving. I f I tap on the glass lightly they will "wake up" and swim around a bit. Anyways, I was wondering if anyone else has noticed odd behavior like this, could they be in the later stages of pregnancy or something? It just seems very odd because they don't move at all, they just sit on the bottom. Thx for any help you can give.

What are your water parameters? Size of tank? Are their bellies bloated? Pls do not tap the tank glass. Tapping the glass will simply stress the fish.

I had the same Prob. and they ended up having 30 fry each in the next few days.

Look out for Babie Platties.....

My platies don't hang out at the bootom of the tank. At any given time, if I want to find them, they are hanging out behind the lip of the filter. The are almost always there. At first I worried about it but then I decided that they just liked it there. They eat fine and I haven't noticed any other problems with them. The females are huge and have been for about two weeks. They look like they are about to explode! They are twice the size of the male. He looks like fry compared to them. My betta likes to "sleep" on the bottom the the tank. He curls up next to the bubble net so that he always has fresh air. He will lay there for hours! Then he just suddenly decides to attack everything in his tank and swim around for a couple of hours. He shows no signs of illness, so I just let him be.

i wouldnt say any fish(unless bottom dweller) hangin out on the bottom of the tank and not swimming around happily,is normal. its far from normal, none of my fish stay still for longer than 5 mins, even if they do they stay at the surface
