Aponogeton bulbs

I bought some for fun at walmart. Anyone else tried them?

It seems this morning I turned on my light and they had mold... about 15 minutes later they didn't... I think my fish ate it off I see them picking at them sometimes.

Anyways, do u think they might still grow even with the mold if the fish cleaned the mold off?

You should plant the bulb, with just the top exposed above the gravel. It should sprout within a couple weeks.

Oh, the instructions said not to plant them =x... is it normal that they grow mold tho? lol.

I don't know what "mold" actually is; can you post a photo? As for planting the bulb, bulbs should be planted; tubers and rhizonmes not. My aponogeton bulbs are all in the substrate. When you say the instructions, which nursery is it?

Walmart.com: Sea-Life: Plants Aquarium Live Aponogeton Bulbs Pets, 1 ct: Fish

bought em at walmart. But uhhh I can't really get a pic atm. It's usually right when I wake up. Then when I turn the lights on and the fish slowly wake up, after about 5 minutes they eat it all up. O.o but it looks like a clear fungusy type thing... But w/e if it dies it was only 4$ though I wish they did live. I have plenty of live plants coming int he mail soon. :) Though those bulbs dying isn't really a good sign for my luck with my plants. D:

Those bulbs are not a bad sign for your tank. I think you just got crummy bulbs from a place that probably had them on the shelf too long. I bought some bulbs through aquariumplants.com and they are doing fantastic. I liked them so much I bought some bulbs from Petco. Withing a few days they also had a fuzzy growth on them (much like you are describing), which luckily my betta did not eat. I took them out of the tank and man, they stunk. Not all bulbs are going to be good quality. Heck, when I purchase oriental lily bulbs for my garden the attrition rate is 3 to 9. The plants that you have coming will be of good quality, you'll be a good plant keeper. :)

Ah, ok. Well if they get old it says I can mail them back to the manufacturer to get new ones. The reviews said the manufacturer was very generous about giving out new ones. And your probably right. I doubt they fly off the shelves at walmart... didn't think about that. I'll give them a couple more days...

Let Walmart return them to the vendor, you shouldn't have to do it. Take them back to the store and request a refund. That's what I did and they gave me my money back.

On your next plant order (there's always a "next" plant order) you can add some bulbs. I'm getting ready to order some more myself so maybe I'll have to add a bulb or two for you. You are literally right around the corner from me. I'm in Carlsbad. :)
