bubbles on my mollys head...
I've noticed for the past few weeks it looks like the scales are lifting off my orange lyretail mollys head riht between her eyes. last night i noticed these bubble like things in the same area....any idea what it could be?? im not sure of her age as she was full grown. i tried getting pics but they didnt come out well....
right i think thats mouth fungus you got there try treating it with a special treatment that you get from fish shops (dont overdose)
could be HIH (hole-in-head) but normally that only affects cichlids. I would add 1 TBSP aquarium salt per 5 gallons as long as you don't have any soft water fish in the tank, since it helps treat just about everything.
Watch the tank closely, maybe there's been fighting or maybe it's an injury? She could have bumped into something (damaged the scales) and then a fungal infection set on the injury... salt could help, along with a broad spectrum anti-fungal.
May I reccomend Melafix or something similiar with tea tree oil as a major ingredient... it will not harm the biological filter, but will help a lot of fungal and some bacterial infections. It does treat mouth fungus, but also helps with a lot of bacteria...
I have a "treatment" tank that I use it with to prepare fish for shipping... let them spend the night in the tank before I ship them in clean water.
