Ordering plants question sweet aquatics
Well I've finally got all the stuff I need to start my new 30g planted tank... I was planning on ordering the PLANT PACKAGE #1 from SWEET AQUATICS Aquarium Plants Pond Plants From Sweet Aquatics
JUST looking for some advise on this.
has anyone ever used them?
is this a good mix of beginner plants?
I can't tell you if it's a good mix of beginner plants as I clicked the link and it says you get to choose the plants you want in your package. But I've heard lots of positive things about them, though I've never ordered there myself.
Sweet Aquatics is awesome. I just received an order from them. Angel from the forums here uses them and recommended them. Lisa and Holly and Kelso have all ordered from them recently. Fantastic small family owned business.
You could go with the package or keep similar numbers of plants that they have in the package and pick the ones you like. Order many. At least similar to what they have in the package and maybe some more. The heavier the tank is planted at the start the better off you are.
I use that site all the time or my tanks. Love their quality and pricing is fair (and free shipping after 40-45 bucks something like that).
Pers I don't like the packages because there's always gonna be 1-2 plants in it I don't wanna have lol.
Consider what you want your tank to be in the end when its all said and done, what fish you want in it and then buy the plants around that idea. If its of any help you can check out my aquarium log under my name here to the left click on the 'aquarium' tap to see all my tanks that are planted maybe that'll give ya some ideas.
Just a comment on selection. Choose plants that will suit your setup, both geographically and technically; these are interconnected.
Geographically means the plants and fish are compatible: share similar water parameter requirements, or if the fish have a need for plants for some purpose (spawning sites, security, browsing, shading light...). It can include being true to a geographic area, like all Amazon plants and fish, or all West Central Africa, or SE Asia.
Technically means the plants will suit your lighting, fertilization and again water parameters though to a much lesser extent.
WOW thanks you guys are all great...thanks for all the info
