ADF medications - same as FW fish meds??

Hi all,

My friend has two ADF's that appear to have some type of fungus. Does anyone have experience in which meds are ok for these guys? I've done a few searches and Maracyn came up once but I've also seen Malachite green-based suggested.

Any ideas?

Thanks

For starters your friend needs to make sure exactly what's going on with the ADFs - They may have been attacked by someone in the tank!?
If its a wound then keeping clean water will do the trick.
If its real fungus you can do Melafix on LOW doses for the ADFs (but check first who else lives in the tank if they can handle that too).
If you friend has a chance just rehouse them in a 2-3g bucket water with a heater and airstone and medicate them in there rather then in the whole tank.
Any case of meds: Low does for them guys like you would with Tetra's!

Thanks Angel,

I should have mentioned that they are alone in a critter keeper type setup. They change out 20-30% of the water every day bc of the small volume of water.

I read that a mild sulphur based med might help them along. I can actually start them with that and they can go another route if that doesn't work - I have Melafix on hand.

Start careful, like I said they're sensitive creatures and hosuing them (unpropper as it sounds) in a lil jug water type set up these lil set ups can flip upside down on you in minutes and are absolutely NOT forgiving on no mistakes.

Agreed. I've tried to convince them that they need a better setup. This might be the kick in the butt that they need.
