possible mix breeding?

So I have swordtails that I breed and I just started to notice one of the females doesn't show the signs that it is a swordtail but a MOLLY!!! Are they so close related they can give birth to another species of fish? I'm just basing this off it's tail since the other females have 2 swords coming on the top and bottom of tail while this one has a rounded tail

More than likely a recessive gene for that tail happened to pop up.
(the double sword is a gene, the common swordtail just has a lower sword)

I've heard that platys can breed with swordtails... but I'm fairly certain the offspring are infertile... don't think it's possible for your fish to have had a grandaddy platy.

Regardless, if you're serious about breeding, you should seperate her. I imagine it would be hard to get rid of swordtails without a sword.

wait- do you have females with swords? I thought only the male had a sword...

I don't breed them seriously it was just a n00b thing I did. The males have colored tails and females just have a really long tail.
Female(also larger than males
