A few Black molly diseases
As i am planning to have some black molly fries so i think i would like to know more about the diseases of black molly that are common. Please tell me more about the diseases which can occur to my black molly and what are the solutions to those diseases?
Mollies aren't really prone to any particular fish diseases that I'm aware of.
Here's a list of diseases and medicines:
and is it true that if i add some salt in their tank then i can prevent them from catching most diseases?
I wouldn't say that's true. Aquarium salt is pretty useless stuff (although it can help in treating ich). I have heard that mollies do better in mildly brackish water than in pure freshwater, but for a brackish tank you'd want to use marine mix, not aquarium salt.
The key to keeping healthy fish is clean water. So long as you buy healthy fish, put them in a fully cycled tank and keep their water in tip-top shape via regular water changes, you should avoid most problems. There are always "diseases" present in the tank but keeping your fish happy and stress-free keeps them from coming down with illnesses (most of the time, anyway).
well right now i think my fishes are perfect shape and are stress free but i dont have much knowledge about cycle? Please can you tell me more about that
Here are some links to articles about cycling:
Thanks i will read them when i have time
I have heard mollies are more prone to ich than other fish... that was a while ago... but it always stuck and I've always assumed that. Guess I'm wrong?
@batman; I add some aquarium salt for my mollies, is that wrong??
I mean aquarium salt rather than marine mix like he mentioned. Mollies don't need salt, but they appreciate it.
