Male platy won't court females.
Well, I've had him in my fish tank with 4 females for a while now and I haven't once seen him try to "court" them... I want to be able to have baby platies so I need him to make them pregnant. XD I think a few from the fish store have sperm already stored but I don't think he's making my other females pregnant...

btw is there a way to tell if a fish is sterile?

Also are platy color genes likee... codominant? If a cross a red platy w/ black fins/tail with a white mickey mouse platy, will it be a mixture? or will it be 50% red w/ black tail/fins and 50% white mickey mouse or will the babies all be a mixture of white and red and black?

For the genetic question, the fry will exhibit different combinations of the parent colors. So some may be white mickeys, white wags, red mickeys, red wags, or ones with both the wag and mickey, or some that are just plain red or white.

I had 1 female and 2 males...the only reason i never got more girls was because the males never bothered her ...some males just arnt "up for it "....:D:D:D

Should I get a different male if I want babies? I could move him in with my angelfish (that's where he was originally and was happy) and wait for one of my platy babies to grow, or buy a new male. Or do you think he's "making babies" with them when I'm not looking? :P
