Help!

I have an about 1.5 g tank w/ one Betta now and looking to get a bigger aqauruim. I want to use a 20 (guessed) gallon we already have but my parents think I should get a 10g starter kit.

Any suggestions on what I sould use? 20g 10g? Bigger? Smaller?
WHat kind of fish (Freshwater Tropical)? :?

dont get the starter kit, techinically you lose money since the equipment there is the cheap quality ones and you will have to buy more better equipment in the end. Trust me, i got the topfin starter kit, i had to buy a new filter, heater, and lights. (or am about to buy)

The bigger the tank the easier to maintain, the 55 gallon is the best begginer tank since it costs average and is big, nothing wrong with bigger though.
