light stuff?.. on fins

Hi all,

This morning I noticed that 2 of my goldfish, (one common/fantail, the other an oranda, both 1-2 inches) developed light... things on their fins. I'm not even sure how to describe them. Doesn't seem to be like ich where it's supposed to be salt-like. They're small spots on the fins that are light compared to the rest of the fin, and these areas aren't at the tips or ends of the fin.

My water parameters read:
pH: 7.6
ammonia: 0 ppm
nitrite: 0 ppm
nitrate: 40 ppm

Just as a precaution, I turned up my heater to 82-84 degrees Farenheit. It's been at that temperature for the last 5 hours or so.

My fish are still acting normal, actively swimming about, begging and scavenging.

Any ideas as to what this is?

Also, as of late, my comet goldie has been exhibiting strange behavior. Sometimes it would flash around the tank and I also noticed that it would have white stringy poop once in a while, though it poops normally as well. I also observed that it has a bunch of scales missing.

I've been feeding my fish mazuri gel and the periodic frozen peas.

Thanks!
Harry

First and most importantly, get that water temp back down... bring it down slowly over the course of a couple of days, but goldfish are coldwater fish... those temps will kill them. Goldfish thrive best at 65 - 68 degrees, and while they can tolerate into the low 70's, that should be short term and extra aeration should be added at the same time.

Can you post any clear photos of the fish in question? What size tank are they in? Are there any other fish in the tank? If so, what species and how many of each?

How long has your tank been set up?

I apologize for not updating this thread. Seems like the issue has been resolved on GAB.
My fish has/had ich and I treated with aquarium salt. They seem much better now, no longer exhibiting flashing/scraping, dots are gone. Going to upkeep the salt dosage for another week or so just in case. Hoping to resolve this soon.
Also keeping a close eye on the long thin/stringy excrement.
