Wanting to set-up a discus tank
Hello...new on the forum and relatively new to the hobby! I currently have a 45 gallon bowfront tank, biowheel penguin 200, air pump with bubble wand, 1 inch of gravel...three beautiful channel cats all about 6"...they will be going into my 1000 gal koi pond in the spring! And several assorted small goldfish and koi that are going into the pond as well.
I recently bought a 55 gallon tank...it is currently sitting empty as I am debating of what to put in there. I would really like to do about 2-3 discus, and 2-3 flowerhorns? As well as some smaller fish, tetras? Not exactly sure...
Any input as what I should put in there for fish and for decoration. I was thinking of getting the Biowheel Emperor as my filter system...
Thanks and any help would be greatly appreciated!
Would research all I could find with regards to proper care of Discus and Flowerhorn Cichlids BEFORE I considered keeping either of these fish. Plenty of opinions out there but were it me,, I would look for books on their care.
Flowerhorn' s will not work with Discus. They grow quite large ,too large for 55 gal and are too aggressive for Discus.
Agreed. Flowerhorns and discus would not at all be a good mix.
Have a look at this thread, as there's another member looking to set up a discus tank of a similar size and we've been going through the motions:
