Compatibility Question: ADF's and Tropical Community?
Would three African Dwarf Frogs be ok to live in my cycled community aquaruim with danios, platies, a flame (dwarf) gourami and a mystery snail?
Also, what is the best food for them?
(Feel free to move the thread if required.)
African Dwarf Frogs do well in most set ups as long as the water conditions are very good. If this is your 20 gallon, I don't see any problems with adding the three. I suggest HBH Frog and Tadpole bites. My frogs shed their skin quite frequently.
Well we USED to have a neat ADF profile on here which apparently with the newst changes is gone now ugh!
They will feed off of pretty much anything but Bloodwors are amongst the favorites. They will co-exit with what you named yes. However it may be difficult for them to feed, so you really have got to ensure there's enough on the bottom for them to eat cause they're slooowwww eaters compared to fish and it also takes them a while to find it. Many folks I know that had AFD in community set up's like yours winded up hand feeding them with tweezers etc so they'd get enough food.
Also dep on what filter- intake you have you may need to cover it up so their lil legs don't get sucked in. Also they don't like strong currents.
I have frozen brine shrimp for my fish, will the ADF's eat them? My fish are really messy eaters so there should be lots of flake food on the bottom for them.
Yup they'll eat that too. Mine also looovvveeedd squished pea's :-)
Just watch them for a while when you feed, see & make sure they get enough foods. Check out my tank log here for the froggie's tank, there's some cute shots of them buggers on there.
Oh and when you hear a "odd" sound at night after the lights are ALL off incl TVs etc don't get scared...its just the frogs then :-)
