So ill just give you facts to speed this long
Cycling a 75 gallon tank used feeder fish
Tank was done cycling fish got ick and died
Treated the tank x2 for ick
2x 80% WC
Added 2 comet goldfish into the 75 gallon left them there for 8 hours
Came home the fish were just floating there (alive!) their tails look like they have fin rot from some of the images on google search they also look (please excuse me for incorrect term usage) ashey (sp?)
Like their skin was whiteish and looked like they needed lotion.
I moved them back to the old tank
The water is crystal clear and still 0,0,0 stats
Im not to familiar with fish illness since this is my first
Ick is extremely treatable; as soon as you see it dial up the Temp a few degrees every few hrs until you reach 80-85F (dep on your fish). And start meds right away, every day until you see no more white spots on the fish, then continue meds for 5 days followed by a good gravel vac & water change and add carbon to the filter (to help remove meds).
How long for has this tank been cycling now? What was the highest Ammonia, NO2, no3 reading you ever gotten from it (and what are you testing this with)?
Haha this tank has been cycling for about 3 months there has been a lot of issues but I think I got them all worked out cyce wise
The fish look fine this morning in my old tank so not sure what it could be.
The fins look a lot like this
but only around the edges there is nothing on them main part of the fin
Three months to cycle a tank sounds a little ridiculous... And you have zero nitrates now?
are the scales frayed like a pinecone?
have they eaten different food lately? a recent thread mentioned that goldfish eating flake food could cause them to have boyancy issues although this does not explain the white skin.
did you seed from your other tank to cycle? this is very effective to speed up the process.
are there live plants in the tank? this could explain the zero readings on everything.
did you test the water before the ick treatment? if so what were the readings? have you ever gotten a nitrate reading? when angel treated for ick (you mention you treated twice already and the ick went away, correct?) her tank had to re-cycle (I think--right angel?)
might want to PM Lupin...he's a goldfish expert and he also knows a lot about fish illnesses.
In the 75 gallon no
On my cycle the nitrite was keeping everything up thats why it took so long it was painful.
and my tank is showing no signs of a mini cylce
Apart from the sickness....it striks me as odd that you say you had your tank cycle 3 mos and EVERYTHING is 0 there like no nitrates at all?
So you fins look fuzzy like sorta chewed up? I'd pers dose with Melafix (sp? Malafix?) if that's the case.
Can you post a picture of the fish? If the white looks fuzzy, it could be columnaris. A picture would help.
so the cories are okay now, and the goldfish are okay in the old tank?
