To stock, or not to stock...
Okay, so I may not have Multiple Tank Syndrome, but I definately have Multiple Fish Syndrome.
In my cycled 25 gallon freshwater community I have the following:
-4 male platies,
-5 zebra Danios
-1 dwarf Gourami
-1 Mystery Snail
My water is has a pH of 8.
Could I add anything more to the tank? ( ie more male platies, male guppies, something with color) Or should I leave it be?
One thing that strikes me on this mix...The Platy's and Danio's 'high temp' if less then the Gouramie's low....What's your tank set for? Gouramies pref like 80-82F. Just a side note
I'd def not add Guppy, that'll tickle the Gouramies feelings too much and asking for aggression issues.
I'd say a group of Cory (since your top is maxed out, but the bottom is free) how about Kuhli loaches??? I think they're totally awesome lil buggers.
My tank is at 27 deg C, and everybody looks happy and active, my tank's been this temperature since I set it up in Novembe.
I don't have the right substrate or room for Kuhli's, they get about 4 inches long and need to be in groups of three.
The substrate is the key thing with kuhlis as they do like to burrow. They need to be in groups, yes, but they have an extremely small bioload. They're 3-4" long but they're incredibly thin little guys that don't eat much. You could stick a whole mess of them in that tank without problems. But again, they do need an appropriate substrate and you'll find that they spend a good deal of the day hiding under your decor rather than swimming around. Cool fish, but ultimately I'd probably choose cories over kuhli loaches purely for the increased activity levels during the daytime.
