Out with the Old and in with the New

Here is my old aquarium:

Community Tank - 55 gallon Freshwater fish tank

Here it is redone:

Community Planted - 55 gallon Freshwater fish tank

Am switching over to live plants. Found this totally cool driftwood branch covered in Anubias at my LFS and HAD to have it. I had gone in with a completely different plan but this was way too cool to pass up.
Still working on lights and more plants but it is doing good even with the lousy 30w in there now.

Hope you enjoy!

OMG to be honest with you I love the new set up and where that route is going a thousand times better then the old one. It looks SO MUCH more natural now....job well done, keep up the good work!!

I agree with Angel079! It looks great! :)

Wow. Looks like a totally different tank. Very nice. I guess it is different as far as what's in it lol. Yeah I was blonde. It's darkening with age. No offense to anyone :)

I really like the change. But then again, I'm a sucker for natural-looking tanks. Good work!

LOVE LOVE LOVE the new look! And I want that DW with the Anubias! Can I ask how much you paid? My LFS sells DW with Anubias but it's expensive.

Chickadee 01-27-2010 05:44 PM

Yes you can ask, it was VERY expensive at $125 smackaroos! But I had planned on that much at a minimum for plants anyway and so now I am not trying to start a bunch of new plants and can add more as able. It was so unique my emotional behavior took over LOL!
I will post updates as I get some more plants in there over the next few months.
Thanks for all your wonderful comments! :BIGcool: You guys rock!

Very nice, what an improvement. The natural neutral tones are very restful to look at. Nice work.

Byron.

Looks real nice. Good mixture of plants and wood. Don't wait too long to get the new fixture.

Am planning by the end of the month to get the 48" triple strip light. Did a bunch of research and want to keep low light so I don't have to add CO2. I know that limits my plants to low light but I don't want too much more in the tank and keep it to Java and crypts. Will try something that is low growing too and see if it will grow. Maybe in a couple of years I'll get braver and add CO2 and some HO T5's.
Thanks again for all your great comments!
