Floating Plants

Hey, i was wondering what kind of floating plants my african butterfly fish would most appreciate.
Thanks :)

They may like Frogbit and red root floater. The red root floater has a larger mass sothey may be more at home in that. Just realize that a floater will block a lot of light once it gets going and lower plants may suffer if you have any.

Thanks fish_4_all :D , I have no other plants currently but i think all my other fish in the tank would benefit from lower lighting levels, and my butterfly fish definatly need something. I will be purchasing some red root floater. :)

Ok, it is a fast grower And will like some descent levels of nutrients to thrive. You might get away with just Flourish and Flourish Potassium but nitrates may be needed also as I have heard it can eat them like a sponge. If you have an HOB, section off the return to keep the surface flow minimul. If oyu run an airstone, try to do the same thng with it as I have also heard they like a calm surface. I don't imagine it being a problem once they get going but I don't know for sure. My frogbit only grows in a small area that it can get no current but it grows well.

Good luck and let me know how it does, I want to see it grow to see if I might use it later for a Vivarium.

I already have a spot in my tank with no current, which is where the butterflyfish tend to stay so that's no problem and i have some flourish and flourish potassium and i guess i'll be buying some nitrates.. i'll be sure to keep you updated :D

Anachris, easy care, relatively hardy, fast grower.
