water testing and stuff I'm going to put my lr in my tank tomorrow, how long should I leave it before I start watertesting and putting in fish? What is the best way to do water changes? Do I premix or just add salt after? I want to add two clown fish, a blennie, and two damsels. i have a 29 gallon tank. Is this ok? |
Damsels can be very aggresive and hurt the clowns. But the clowns and Blennies re fine together. what kind of clowns I usually add the salt after. Sometimes I pre-mix if it is a Smaller Tank. |
do premix and nothing else, otherwise if you add freshwater to the tank, then add salt it will stress the fish to the point of death due to the salinity change and the specific gravity change, also if the fish come on contact with high concentration of salt (for example lying down on a pile of undissolved salt) can harm them. Mix it in a bucket and either place an airstone with an air pump in there, stir it for 15 minutes or put a powerhead there, then test the specific gravity and add more salt or more freshwater to get it where you want |
now when you add water due to evaporation though do not add more salt when you add water. You will deffinetly go off the chart with salinity. |
you can add freshwater, then add salt if you are setting up the tank with nothing in it, once you have live stuff in it (includes rock and sand) you need to pre-mix. |
