Angelfish locking lips, What the... I saw my angelfish locking lips last night. What does that mean? They always swim together and never seem to mind each other company. Do they like each other too much? I don't ever remember seeing any of my angels ever do this before. |
I believe its and aggression and dominance thing. |
Actaully sounds like typical breeding behavior. Lip locking and tail slapping is very common in the breeding ritual of almost all central american and south american cichlids. It sounds like they are pairing off and might be laying soon. |
I was thinking along these lines too. They swim together with no problem even after that. I will pay attention to that. It is the only 2 angels I have in there for now. Tail slapping? What do they slap? Each other? Quote:

I remember my angels doing this when I had them as a kid. They were a pair and did breed. Looks like you may have a pair there. How fun! I love Angel Fish! |
I think the slapping is too show how big and tough they are but im not sure on that. |
Cool, I had angles that laid eggs a couple times, as far as I know they didn't hatch but it was neet watching them guard the eggs and stuff. |
