Danio with enlarging belly...
So one of my danios has been growing a belly very slowly since I got them about 3 weeks ago. She acts fine, eats like a pig, darts around all over the tank chasing the others, picking at the ground. I thought maybe it was just eggs or something but just looking at her now I noticed some weird little red thing hanging out from her back at the back of the belly. I didn't know what this thing was but she still doesn't seem bothered at all, she sucked it back in and is just swimming about still as normal.
Is this anything bad or is it just eggs or what? I don't have any pictures sorry.
could very well be that female is carrying eggs and will drop them at some point. Eggs are likely to be eaten if other danios or female herself, come across them.
Woke up and her swollen belly was gone, back to normal, but still has the little red spot on the back of belly as well as now a longish black string thing hanging from there. Some kind of parasite maybe?
