my 42 gallon with bichir
Hello everyone:-) I have a 42 gallon tank (dimensions are 48 inches across the front,15 inches from front to back and 12.5 inches from top to bottom) the filter will be the fluval 405 external filter, and the only fish that is certain is a senegal bichir but I have quite a few ideas .
bosemani rainbow fish
twig cat fish
red tailed shark
bleeding heart tetra
upside down cat fish
these are all fish that catch my eye,I don't meen they are fish I wan't all together in my tank because that would probably just about go into the lines of over stocking
These fish will grow to be as long (or even longer) than your tank's front-to-back dimension, so they should really be in something bigger. I think a 75g tank is a good minimum size for them considering their length.
As for tankmates, the best ones for bichirs are fish too large to be eaten (and these fish will try to eat things even larger than their own heads, so we're talking decently big) and yet fairly docile, ruling out rowdy fish like most cichlids.
