Angel still not eating!!!

Its day 5 of treatment -10 gallon hospital tank, 90 deg, Metronidazole, with 50% daily water changes as recommended in another thread. He acknowledges the food, even swims up to it then doesn't eat! Is there anything else I can do??? Im getting desperate. :-(

He's showing interest if he's swimming up to it. Off the top of my head it's a week without eating, which in fish terms really isn't that long. Once he starts mouthing & spitting it out you're pretty much home free.

For an idea how long fish can go without eating have a read of this article, an old one but very much a standard procedure; Dry and Rainy Seasons in the Tank by Kristian Adolfsson

Scroll down, you'll see the fish are fed less than 10% for the first week, then not fed at all the following 2 weeks.

What are you feeding them? They seem to like bloodworms... even my healthy angels dont care much for flakes.... they will attack freeze dried worms... if they are live, watch out.... likr hungry wolves.

That def makes me feel better. He is way more active than originally which leads me to believe he is improving and the other angels doing fine, eating with no problem which makes me feel like the treatment is working. Its just so discouraging.

That was the case prior to them getting ill. Id throw a cube of frozen blood worms in and they'd attack it like piranha's! Unfortunately one stopped eating all together and the other was picking. Hopefully they will be back to there old "piranha" selves when all this is done. :-)

Well, wishing for a full recovery. I hate it when my fish get sick.

Thanks much appreciated! He still hasn't eaten but he seems healthy and active otherwise. Just hope he stays that way, and begins eating again of course! ;-)

Fish can go weeks without meals, but who knows how long he maybe was not eating at the store/the last time he was fed.

I don't feed my fish for 2 or 3 days when I buy them so they get.used to their environment. I don't feed them if I go on vacation for 3 or 4 days. This usually gets them really hungry and they will eat anything you throw in even if its not a favorite.
