new ginormous pleco
soooo I was in my LFS yesterday, and i was picking out which common pleco I wanted for my 110g. what can i say, i love big catfish lol so the sales man (who is a really nice guy, and super knowledgeable to boot, best LFS for 200 miles) tells me he has a pleco he wants me to put in my 110g, but before he shows him to me, he offered 30 bucks out the door.
how can i resist not pushing the big red button which must never be pressed under any circumstances?
soooo I check the fish out, and wind up bringing home an AWESOME 9ish" royal pleco :D im not 100% sure if its L190, which seems to be more popular, but the juvie royals he had were supposedly the same, and they had the white first half of the tail fin, strikingly similar to some of the L027s. frankly, im not sure I really care which is which, I just want to make sure he gets the best care he can get.
my 110g is kept around 80-82 degrees F, which I turned down just a tiny bit to hover right around 80. tank mates are 6 rosy barbs, a jack dempsey (who doesnt bother him) and two blue gouramis. he has a GIANT piece of driftwood to eat / hide behind, and a smaller piece to nibble on with a java fern growing on it, and i feed the tank crisps which my old pleco grazed, and now im feeding a couple algae wafers a day (which someone, not sure who, is eating). filtration is two of the big ole tetra doubles, and an eheim ecco canister. going to double up on water changes to help avoid the inevitable bioload boom from the big fish poo.
am i missing anything? this guy is a gem, dont want to lose him to a stupid mistake :)
pics to follow!
