Help my mollies are fighting!

One is a balloon molly the other a dalmation, both female. Is this normal, should they not live together? I have had them only a few days and they have been pecking at each other a bit and chasing, but I have just fed them and they are battering each other!!!

How large of a tank are they in and do you have any plants or decor to block their line of sight?.....Are their any other fish in the tank?.....adding a male MIGHT stop them from bothering each other, but it could also lead to alot of molly fry

They are in a 110 litre with decor and two live plants, I will be adding more plants soon. No other fish atm. They seem ok most of the time just keep pecking at each other! I will be getting a male at some point. Can balloon mollies and 'normal' mollies interbreed?

yes they can interbreed. they are the same species.

I've witnessed the same too. Female mollies tend to be more agressive than males in my experience. But rarely are they fatal to each other. How many mollies are there in the tank? if you add more, they might stop fighting. But this is not a sure fire way. sometimes it might even make it worse.

Thanks, I wasn't sure about the interbreeding as the man at the LFS told me they couldn't interbreed and he actually seemed to know what he was talking about on most other things!
I have decided to take them back to the store anyway as I have now added my 3 female guppies to the tank and they are going after those as well. Maybe I can trade them for something else, not sure what though!
