New to marine aquariums
Hi everyone, just looking around for as much info on marine aquariums as i can find and came across this great resource.

First of all i have just bought a 75 gallon tank (340 litres over here) and am in the process of buying eqiupment. I plan to stock fish and live rock, no corals.

It is a complete unit with fluoresent lights built into the hood. What im planning on getting is the following:

Internal canister filter 800L/h
Powerhead 800L/h
Heater 300W
12 inch protein skimmer

I have other things such as salt, hydrometer, test kits, etc etc already...

Any advice on the equipment would be appreciated, such as higher filtering rates etc

Also, what type of light tubes are approprite for this tank?

I have 3 light tubes to utilise so what would be a good mix to use? Keeping in mind that i will only have fish and live rock..

Ive been reading a few articles on what substrate to use and its just opinions vs opinions really but i dont know if i should use a crushed coral substrate or a more sandy one..any help would be great!

well if you only want fish and live rock you could get like a 10k and atintic bulbs. And sand is better to use than crushed coral. No matter how long you keep or how good you clean the crushed coral it will cloud your water every time you touch it. So go with sand.
