Charcoal and Live Plants
 

Is charcoal a definite no no for live plants? I have always used charcoal with my tanks (never had live plant tanks) and worry that there may be some drawbacks for the fish if charcoal is not used and water clarity. Do the plants do the job that the charcoal would do for the water for the fish? Thanks for any input.
