Darker Panda Corys?
So I got a new panda and albino at a pet store in philly. I got 4 albinos on tuesday and the other day one died. They replaced him no problem. I also got a panda since they had some,to replace one I lost. Anyways.
My question is,I was looking at my pandas,as I was seeing if the new guy was doing okay. I noticed some of them (including the newbie) look a bit darker than the others. Like black speckled almost on their faces and body. Does that mean anything? Like...is that bad...or just some kinda different coloring...I honestly dont know if they always looked darker...might have....but I cant remember....heh....My other new guy is light (or girl I dunno) as are the tank bred babies. Seems two of the adults are a bit darker and the other two are more pale like the babies. Any ideas? :dunno:

Probably not any cause for worry. Environmental issues can cause a fish to lighten or darken the basic colour. New fish I find are almost always lighter but usually "darken" to resemble the others within a few days. Stress causes fish to pale. Also, the substrate has an impact. When I kept my trio of C. panda in the 70g with natural buff gravel, they were lighter; now in the 90g with darker gravel they are noticeably darker all the time, as are some of the characins in this tank that were in the other too.

this is just a thought, but with the additions of the albinos, the larger (more mature) could be displaying different colors for the sake of breeding purposes..........They could view the albinos, as a rival for the affection of the other pandas in the tank............This is just a theory of mine, but other fish will behave this way, when it comes to breeding time............Like Byron said, if they seem healthy, i wouldnt worry about it......
