1 Air pump - 2 tanks?
I'm going to set up the 2nd 10g tomorrow...Would anything speak against using 1 large Air pump (Whisperer) to power 2 individual tanks (well rather their sponge filters)??
i dont see why this would not work. i have a pump i dont use that has the power to do 40-60 gallons. i dont see why i could not use it to do 2 29 gallon tanks.
I thought so too...just wanna double check what ya'll think, make sure I'm not overlooking something.
I guess the idea was good - Carrying it out not so much, that thing is sooo powerful even hooking up 2x10g it about bubbled my shrimp out of the tank there :-)
Couldnt you buy a diverter VALVE.....
then you could dial in the amount of Air you want
going to the tanks... maybe even seperate
Valves for each tank.......
the only draw back to using one pump to provide air to multiple tanks is the tank that is the deepest is always going to have the least pressure, and when you change water you will really notice it if you have to small of a tank. I used to use some 10doller pumps from walmart and I would use them to run 5 29s each they got the job done for cheap but did have issues when I changed the water and I would always have to adjust them. I will send you a link that you can use in the future if you plan on getting more and more tanks that will save you a ton of money. here is my airpump that I use it is rated to run 150 outlets. I have around 60 outlets going right now and I have a ton of air blowing off. I am always planning on more tanks so this was the best route for me. I use 3/4 pcv with air 100 outlets spread across my fish room. this is by far the best investment I have made. when it was all said and done it cost me 325.00 for the pump,pipe,valves,1000foot airline. and the bottom pic is of when I was running the small air pumps they are hanging from the lights.
Yea I just used 2 individual small one's in the end yesterday cause planting took me forever so it seemed (pulling hairgrass apart) and then I was too tank-tired to fiddle with the single hook up. Plus I figured if I use 2 individual one's - If one breaks for whatever reason at least only 1 tank stops filtering not both...
Well until after we add on to the house, I'm limited to set up more tank right now, I have room for 1 more 55g and maybe 1x20-30g and that's it, which is fair enough really
