Reticulated Stingray

:-D I am sooooo Happy! I just got a baby reticulated stingray as an early christmas present. It is a male, and it eats like a pig. It is in a 90 gallon for now, and when it outgrows the 90 gallon there is a 180 gallon just waiting for it. Thought I'd share.:-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D

He is a freshwater amazonian reticulated stingray. He will grow to about 14-16 inches across the disc and the tail will be about double that length. When he outgrows his 90 gallon he will go in my 180 gallon. Water has a pH of 6 and there are 2 aquaclear filters. He is currently housed with 4 Koi angels and 2 black lace angels, but I will also be adding some geophagus, bleeding heart tetras, and some hatchetfish. I might also add a female stingray, but I am not sure yet. Reticulated Stingrays like water in the temperature range of 78-86 degrees, but I keep mine at 84 (to keep ich out of the tank). At higher temps they are much more active fish, swimming up the walls and all around the bottom (they do uproot smaller plants).

Agreed, cool fish!

What do you feed him?

fishfreak2009 01-22-2010 08:22 AM

right now all he eats is blackworms, earthworms, nightcrawlers, and shrimp. If he's really hungry he'll eat frozen bloodworms. He also devoured all my mystery snails and my giant apple snail.
