Identification

I saw two tiny creatures in the refugium.
Cone shaped, like a badmitton birdie. Perhaps three millimeters long. Clear, white at the point, white on the edge of the skirt. About three mm long. Too small to get a picture.
What are they?

They sound like feather dusters.

They are free swimming.

Oh, I may have those too. I will see if I can grab a pic and we can compare. That will be later today, after work though...

The guy at the LFS tells me they are hydroids.

badxgillen 01-25-2014 02:53 PM

Good old hydroids,it is a big group with some being not so good.
Still hard to say without a visual.
Have you seen anything like it in any books?

The photo I linked to is a good representation of it, looking end to end.
I found one in the tank today, on the glass.

That sir looks like a hydroid to me.
