Squiggly thing in my tank??
Yesterday I saw a worm looking thing swimming in my tank it was very very small. So small I had to have my face right up to the glass to be able to see it. It went into the rocks, so i lost eye contact with it. Too bad one of my fish didn't see it and eat it! Is this a bad thing? What could this be?
Could be Planaria, googel pictures and see if it matched your suspect :-)
Detailed info here if that's what it is Planarian - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Could be?? It was so small I couldn't tell anything about it.
Yup planarian are very very small :-)
Are they BAD?
If you have Planaria (which I'm not saying you do, cause I have not seen it, but its commonly described the way you did) they house in tanks that generally offer too much food in the gravel. While the worm themselves isn't bad the fact there's too much uneaten food in your tank will be a issue for your fish after a while.
so do proper (~30%) w/c each week while you use a vacuum for your gravel and cut down a lil on your food and/ or only feed ever 2nd day. Some fish will eat them, such as Molly or Platy, smaller fish like Tetra won't touch them.
OK, I was feeding them a little too much, kind of on purpose, to go ahead and help with the cycle, but I have cut back as of the last couple weeks ago. Also, I have some corys now to help clean up some too. I may have gotten that wormy thing as I did my gravel cleaning a couple days ago.
