I hope you know what you're getting into, LOL! I'm sure you probably do but I can't help but remember the several large parrots that I have owned through out the years. I had a Blue and Gold Macaw that I hand fed from 5 weeks of age and a Lesser Sulfur crested Cockatoo that I hand fed from 4 weeks of age. In fact I bought them from a breeder and they said that if I took them so young that I would get a large discount but I would have no waranty because if I didn't know what I was doing and the bird died, it would be my own falt. Well, they both did very well but the Macaw was so noisey that I sold him after a few months. The Cockatoo was with me for 7 years but I was the ONLY PERSON that could handle it. It loved me and would try to bite anyone that got near me. Well, it bit my girlfriend on the finger so bad that it was borderline for stitches. After that I sold him. I now have a" Yellow sided green cheeked Conure".It is a BEAUTIFUL, LEAST NOISEY, MOST LOVING BIRD that I have owned. The point of all this is the fact that I also hand fed a yellow naped amason, TOO NOISEY. I had an orange winged Amason, bit everyone but me,and I bred and sold cockatiels, they were nice but too much work for the price you got for the babies. My piont is if you want to breed African Greys, check out this site, - 21k ?If you want to breed a gentle, LOVING , QUIET,BEAUTIFUL BIRD that loves to be held by everyone and fetches good money for the babies, do yourself a BIG favor and breed these guys. ;-) Oh by the way, My brother had an African Grey, NOISEY AND BIT EVERYONE BUT HIM"

I agree w/ Briang. I hope you know what you're getting into! As a lifelong bird lover and owner I can tell you that a breeding pair limits your interaction with them. A bonded pair will never be quite as cuddly and loving like my parrot is. My experience is the same as Briangs. Toby loves me and only me and has taken a HUGE chunk out of the B/F's finger more than once. Just a heads'll be a job, not an adventure. LOL

If i remeber corectly you are only 14 or so. corect me if im wrong. But i wouldnt even try it, african greys are a aggresive bird. I Have had one for 10 years, or should i say my parents did. That bird wouldnt let any one near it. No one at all. Im not saying all africans are that way. But you may want to wait till you can put more time into them. I mean a lot of time training and handleing them. Best of luck to you if you do get them.

r u crazy i would never breed parrots or keep em by myself. my dad is the owner of them he is getting them on friday and they r going to his dads house in the attic they r fixing that room up just for the birds so they can have a good enviroment.heater and everything for this time of year.and we r breeding them and him and i r researching them.noone in his dads house sleeps close to the attic so u wont be able to hear them squak. they r breeding birds u cant touch them or anything. they r 6 years old. what do they like to eat? what toys do they need. whats a perch? what should the temperature in the room be? we r breeding them so we can raise the babies ourselfs and teach them how to talk and stuff and make them friendly.

ok a perch is a board or stik for the birds to stand on and walk on or sit on.. The will eat fruits and nuts, Also birds seed. They like to chew so you will want to get some wooden toys so the can chew them up. Mine liked penuts and dryd apples, dryd oranges. They will also need a good vitamin supliments. Temp should be around 72 to 84. and no Higher if breeding them.

If you are breeding them for profit, I still wouldn't go with an African Grey. As a person who has had so much experiance with birds, and I mean Many years more than you have even seen yet, Why not get a bird that is MUCH easier to train and so much more loving like a Yellow sided Green Cheeked Conure. A lot easier, and you will still get a few hundred bucks for the babies and being that as a rule, they are QUIET and love to be held. I'm sure they would be easier to sell also.????????????????????????????????????????????? ?????????????????????????????????????????????

it was my dads they already built a room for them in the attic.well it wasnt my idea to get them. it was my dads idea they already built a room for them in the attic at his dads just the researcher trying to find out stuff and u helped me. we r going to petco to get some toys for them tomorrow. nmaybe because the snow is bad.

For some reason this thread is reminding me of a movie I once saw. Alfred Hitchcock's "Birds". Anyone seen it? Remember the attic bird scene??

biokid101 12-10-2009 02:26 PM

lol never saw it! the attic is the only place for them to have some peace and privacy and they r having their own little room in built in the attic. i hope they are happy they come tomorrow. they are not friendly due to the fact they werent raised to be friendly with people.they are breeder african greys. my dad is qualified to do this. he knows everything and so do i.IM SO EXCITED!!!
