Synodontis nigriventris skin disease?
I wish I could get a picture of the poor thing, but she won't let me. But I think my pleco attacked em and the catfish is really pale now. Doesn't seem to eat the wafers like she used to and her skin doesn't look right it looks like the paterns are washing off in a sense.
Think this, only her face is almost completely flesh colored and her patterns are hardly showing through. her stomach is still fairly dark and is retaining most of her color. I'm fairly new to keeping fish any advice, similar problems? Water is fine, I just had it checked yesterday. All the other fish are doing fine.
So sorry to hear your catfish, does not look well. Have you recently used any type of salt or medication in the tank? Try to answer these questions. http://www.tropicalfishkeeping.com/t...ease-read-652/, Hope we can find a fix for you.
If you are talking about common upside down cat, i doubt it is pleco. Synodontis are too fast and opposite side of tank level, cat on top (usually) and pleco on bottom.
Color can fade depending on night and day, I am suspecting pH, Ammonia, Nitrite levels. what is temp?
As for water params I just got them tested a few days ago at my lfs and they told me everything was good. as I am awaiting a liquid test kit to come in to buy a new one. I do about 30% water exchanges every week and vacume with the water change. the tank is a 55g with 3 angels, a common pleco, 2 hifin black skirt tetra, and about 12 red tux platys. the temp stays at a good steady 78f and there are no live plants within the tank. my filter is a topfin 60 which I plan on changing out when I can get extra money. I also have a bubble wand if that matters. I have not treated for anything and all my other fish look pretty good healthy and have a healthy appetite. My catfish however does not. unless its secretly eating something at night that I don't know about. Oh and I use algae wafers and tropical flake food regularly and brine shrimp once a week.
Can you try getting a picture of the catfish again? I think a picture would help.
Is the cat looking any better or worse today?
