Need advice on choosing a tank for breeding platys...
Hey there everyone! I need some help on choosing a secondary tank for breeding platys. I'm only planning to start out with two females, whick I'll probably keep in that tank until they're bred and then I'll toss them into my 20 gallon community. I'll then use the breeding tank to rase the selected fry until they're big enough to go in my 20 gallon without being eaten.
So here's what I've been looking at so far:
Aqueon Mini Bow Desktop Aquarium Kits - Sale - Fish - PetSmart
Eclipse System 12 Aquarium by Marineland - Sale - Fish - PetSmart
Aqueon 16 Gallon Deluxe Bow Front Aquarium Kit - Aquarium Kits - Aquariums - PetSmart
Input is HUGELY appreciated!
Edited to add:
Or, do I go with the good old fashioned 10 gallon glass rectangle with an el cheapo incandesant hood?
You CAN use a 10g for the 2 gals I'd not recommend this for permanent living but breeding and move them to the 20g is only a temp solution.
If any of the tanks you listed I'd get the 16g then.
Alternatively you can safe that money, add bunch fine plants like different grasses and moss to your 20g and this way offer the fry hiding places till they're old enough.
And the 3rd option would simply be buying another 15-20g used and safe yourself the money for the new tanks.
