Aquarium size for fry tank...?

Hi there everyone. I'd really like to start breeding platys, and I'm wondering what size my fry tank should be. Would a 5 gallon work? (Just to use to grow them to a size where my other fish won't eat them.)

Depends on how many fry you have. I'd say 10g would be a minimum size though. Crowding the babies might lead to stunted growth or serious outbreaks of disease. I'd treat them as if they were adult fish for space allowances, that way they can grow better. So use the same formula for adult fish, x number of fish per gallon.

I would probably only be saving 10. My plan was to raise them in the 5 gallon untill they're big enough that my other fish won't eat them.
