Gravel for planted aquarium and cories

Ive been reading about gravel for planted aquariums, you know like eco-complete and flourite. I was wondering if these gravels are compatable with cories, is the gravel to sharp for them? If they are what type of gravel/sand should i use?

I have Fluorite mixed with gravel and it has irregular and kinda sharp edges. You might want to do a layer of it or laterite underneath a layer of fine, smooth gravel.
