So i tested out my bubble trap today and the bubbles are still in my tank. When the water and bubbles went through the trap they water just pulled the bubles down. I spaced my baffles 1 inch apart. whats going on? when i add the salt will that change in density make the bubble trap work like its supposed to?

If you show a pic i could tell you what your doing wrong probably.

I juswt looked your pic. Did you put the sump in with the baffles closest to the water output? If i cant help you you can always put a piece of foam at the botom or something.

They are on the far side of the water input. i dought that would matter anyway.

Sorry i meant bubble trap not baffle but try and flip it around so the first thing the bubbles hit is the trap. Also you can put foam underneath the pvc that makes the water come out to slow it down or put an elbow on it.

TR after looking back at your pics and seeing how many bubbles your overlfow is adding I came up with an idea. Do you have 2 90 elbows left and some of that PVC you used to take it to the sump?

trreherd 02-12-2007 07:23 PM

I have the pvc and i am willing to do anything to get rid of these bubbles. There driving my crazy! I cant help but thinking of them constantly! all my hard work, shut down by these little bubbles. I think i have a problem.
But anyway tell me how to get rid of these. I dont get it. the trap was supposed to get rid of the bubbles. Y isent it working? is dosent filter any bubbles. Is my overflow supposed to make these microbubbles? Is it because i used pvc and not the flexible washer hose? Iv been reaserching on the web and i cant find any answers.

Nah bud, you've done everything correct. Your just getting an abundance of bubbles. One quick solution would be to say that you've got to large a pump in your return. It is pulling the water to it so quickly that the bubbles cannot escape.

But I have an idea....

why are you leaving me hanging? But i dont belive my flow is to blame, i adjusted my ball valves to a trickle and the bubbles were still being sucked down throught the bubble trap.

Try doing this with 2 90's and 2 short pieces of pipe. Take your foam from your overflow box and psuh it over the short piece of pipe in the last 90 pointing up. Like this.

Don't glue anything as it's just a test. Even if it works, don't glue anything.
