Rebulding Hood for 10g, One or Two Lights?

I can't remodel the exiting hood to house a normal florescent bulb and what's in it doesn't work for me as it is (explained here at the bottom already http://www.tropicalfishkeeping.com/f...-plants-32280/)

Now, if I'm already gonna go built a hood matching my 55g for the 10g what I need to decide before hand, should I put one single 18" fixture in it or TWO? Being a 10g I'd thing one this size will be sufficient for plants and shrimp, but I rather wanna hear y'alls opinion before I built it now and then rebuilt it again :-)

One should be good. With 2 you would have a lot of light for that small tank and may lead to excess of algae growth.

Agree, one tube on anything under 30g in my view.

So I thought just wanted to cross check cause the current tubular bulbs make me wanna tear my hair out. For short term solution I now have the normal florescent fixture laying across the tank (for the plants sake) but I will re-built hopefully before Thanksgiving, or MAYBE I get lucky enough to find a proper hood at the store.

Sometimes all it takes is a different town with a different hardware store...And you find some awesome energy efficient Day light bulbs. The one's I found there are giving off 40W, but really only using 7W are 6500K Daylight and who'd think the 10g looks AWESOME now. This light actually has this clear bluish touch to it like the life glo's do, VERY nice, sure glad I found them :-)
