Redness Around the Mouth of My Female Cherry Barb
I just started a new 29 gallon tank about 8 days ago. I put in three cherry barbs along with some Tetra safe start and a seasoned filter sponge from another tank. I have readings of 0PPM Ammonia 0PPM Nitrite and 4PPM Nitrate, I have not done any water changes.
Just today I started to notice that one of my cherry barbs is getting a little red around her mouth. Its not bad yet, just a little pinkish, and she still is acting completely normal besides this. However if there is something wrong with her I want to treat as soon as possible.
I was thinking of treating with both Maracyn and Maracyn 2 simultaneously. I would put her in a 2.5G hospital tank which I am setting up now and am also preparing another filter sponge in my other cycled tank.
My question is, what do you think this redness around the mouth could be (if anything) and how should I treat if I do? I can't decide whether to wait a few days and see how she does or do it immediately just in case.
Any advice would be great, thanks!
