scared for fish!
okay i have a carpet anemone and i was wanting to get rid of it so i was simply pulling it away from the lr and it ripped in half like completely in half and ive heard that anemone gives off chemicals if they die that can kill everything in your tank!!!! need some info asap
i don't think it will matter didn't sound good tho i would chill till someone tells you other wise
i lost my lunar wrasse in the incident and my picasso trigger is doing well but i did a 10 gallon change to try and get the waste from the anemone and i think it helped alot! thanks for the response 6998
no problem sorry about the wrasse
Carpet ripped? I know they can really grab onto things but next time dont pull any anemone. Simply poke/push on the base gently until releases its grib.
I dont have the scars from Carpet/Elegant corals anymore on my arm, but did cause some rash and scars.
i hope you did not get stung as you can actually feel the stings on the fingertip. Not a painful sting on the finger tip but avoid soft tissues on your hand/arm when handling any invertebrates.
Dont know about releasing toxins other than fouling up water as guts are spilled in the tank.
Test water and perhaps few very small water changes, if needed.
Maybe wrasse some how got stung by dying/torned Carpet? If you can, thouroughly examine body of wrasse for black dots/sots???
Hope all goes well!
since your user name is 29 gallons i hope the trigger isnt in a 29 gallon tank. if this is the case an upgrade to a larger tank would be needed for the well being of this fish, at the very least finding a suitable home.
as for the anemone, what did you do with the 2 pieces? do both of them have a foot? i would leave them in the tank and keep a close eye. if they survive you could have 2 nems which will allow you to pass one along to a friend.
actually i was just holding onto the trigger for a friend for a few days till he moved and it didnt make it through the night and the anemone completely ripped and i wasnt tugging on it i was just simply pinching the foot to have it release grip. Thanks for the concern though onefishtwofish
