couple pictures of my new setup!!!
here are a couple pictures of my new setup. it is a 55 gallon oceanic!!!
i just finished building the rock structure in the back left corner
so since thses pictures i changed a couple plants and added some fish
i now have
2 silver tip sharks
1 eclipse cat fish
4 tiger barbs
i can deffinitly fit more fish but i am looking for some other more exciting cats and sharks. anyone have any suggestions let me know
Careful with the silver tips, they are said to do better in brackish.
I have two of the eclipse cats. They are shy, but peaceful.
yea the eclipse is hanging out behind the rock pile. i have had silver tips before in freshwater and they did fine. when i bought these i made sure they were in fresh water not brackish. i once bought one that was in brackish water and when he was put in the freshwater he did not do well. it seems if they are raised in fresh they do good in fresh but you cant keep switching them around from fresh to brackish or vise versa
I have also read, that as they grow, they require a higher salt gravity. So, any signs of illness, I would move them into brackish. Good luck with them.
My eclipse are always hiding. The only time they come out of hiding, is at night. I have led lights for some night time viewing. Mine are around 8 inches and nice and fat.
mine is still a little guy. about 3 inches long. i cant seem to find him im sure he will appear sooner or later
i found him. he is hanging out in the clay pot that i have in my tank
I read that they grow slow, but mine got large fast.
Here is mine. This was taken at night, with flash.
nice.....i have another question, would cichlids do ok in my tank with the catfish?
I am not real sure, the only fresh water cichlids I have, are bolivian rams.
What kind of cichlids are you thinking about? Do keep in mind, all of your catfish will grow large, and they will possible need a larger tank one day. Not sure adding more large fish is a good idea.
The tiger Barbs prefer larger groups. How about adding a couple more.
