Biotope of Rio Tapajos film

I posted this in the cichlid section, but am repeating it here in case planted tank enthusiasts might otherwise miss it. I came across an excellent short film from AquaNet.tv at Aquanet.TV ? In den Zuflüssen des Rio Tapajos ? Kleine Buntbarsche that films several species of dwarf cichlids in the Rio Tapajos, a southern tributary of the Rio Negro in Brazil.

The commentary is in German, but even if you don't understand that, the photography speaks for itself and is incredibly good. The various species of Apistogramma and Discrossus are filmed in the Rio Tapajos. Females in full breeding colours are observed as they shepherd their school of fry through the vegetation. And it is important to note the thick vegetation in most of the sites, from aquatic plants, branches, standing trees and leaf litter. This is visual evidence of the type of aquascape for dwarf cichlids that I and others have frequently recommended.

The first few minutes show the landscape and tourists, but after that the camera goes underwater and the clear scenes of these fish interacting naturally is one of the best I have seen. Well worth viewing.

Byron.

No. I might manage to understand a few words. I took a reading course in German in university, as one of the requirements for my MA in musicology was a reading ability in two languages, and I did German (very useful in musicology as Germanic writers are or then were prevalent in this field) and French (less useful, but in Canada French is compulsory in schools so I had that). Also had Latin.
