Well, to be honest, I don´t like them. It's purely a matter of taste but those tanks just don´t look like a natural habitat for me.

NO problem, I appreciate the honesty. Actually I was going for the more sci-fi fish tank in my design knowing full well the naturalists were not going to like it. But if you think about a humans natural habitat is living in caves and huts. Only through the modern era our natural habitat has changed to cities and homes. Fish are smart too, they can be naturalize to a 21'st century tank.

The lights are necessary for me to see the fish tanks. Because I live in a small (and expensive) high rise condo there is no window in my living room, only the bedroom. Which means the tanks are pitch BLACK without any LED lights. Also I run the hood lights on a timer for 7 hours daily and since I am constantly in and out I want to be able to appreciate the tank whenever I can not just during 12-8pm.

Fish don't mind it really plus I love the shut all lights off in my living room and just watch both tanks in the dark, it is quite relaxing.

i think they are nice setups :D , if everyone had the same taste it would be pretty boring

i really like all of your tanks, even if i try to do the natural thing. im really hoping you could take those plants out of there pots and find a way to make them a little more stream line like planting them directly into the substrate.

I was thinking of doing that. But I have a VERY thin layer of sand. Look at the pics it doesn't even go past the bottom plastic. I guess I could create a ring of rocks to hold the plant in place...

Perhaps a ring of rocks sorta like a bonfire then plant it in the middle with some tiny stones.

Interesting idea, let me think about it for a bit.

They don´t have a choice, right ? :D
Most fish don´t care about their envrionment or at least we don´t hear their complaints. :D

I know someone who´s arranged the tank with lots of Playmobil stuff.

fish can adapt to a wide variety of things, all animals can actually. But nice tank, whatever works for you, i have a half artificial and half natural look, as long as the fish seem fine and you like it.
