Pregnant Guppy... I bought guppies from the store about 2.5 weeks ago. There is a picture of one of the guppies below. The guppy has continued growing and the "gravid spots" have been getting darker and darker. I am looking for advice. I have a friend willing to to take at least some of the fry if they live but I do not really know what to do. I wasn't planning on having fry and have been trying to figure out more information about what to do. Unfortunately I do not really have the money to buy a whole lot of stuff for her. I have a 5.5 gallon tank with a filter and bubbler. I do not have another tank to put the fry in. I do not have anything for breeding either. I wanted to do it some day when I had the money and time but I don't really have either right now. I have 2 other of the 4 guppies that might also be pregnant but they are not getting as big as this one is. I am fairly handy so if I can make some of the stuff I need if that is at all possible. I made a sort of container to hang in the tank from a Milk Jug and I can use that if I need to to keep the fry in. anyways...if you can give any advice it would be appreciated. I had posted this in the breeding section but no-one is replying...so now I am posting it here... http://photos-h.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos..._2417998_n.jpg |
I have 3 female guppies in my 15 gallon tank. alot of the fry will get eaten, and you won't have to worry about it. the leftover ones survive. |

so do you think some will survive? i have plants and stuff...i feel sort of bad but if i was trying to breed i would have made sure i had all the right stuff for it...but since i the guppy was pregnant when i bought it...there is nothing i can really do... |
If you have a large tupperwear or even a large plastic tub, that can serve as a birthing tank, You have already had the fry I see, but in the future it may work. Good Luck and I hope that they were healthy, cute fry!! :-D |
could also depend if the tank is heavily planted. I have some adult guppies in my tank and many fry and so far, as far as i can see, the adults have not assualted the fry...yet |
tat female guppy looks jus like mine u can jus let her give birth in the tank and wen u fine the baby guppies u can net them and put them in the milk jug tats wat i did but i didn't use a milk jug i had like a 1 gallon |
