Glowlight Tetra nipping at bigger Pristella Tetra
I got 11 Glowlight and just added 3 Pristella Tetra. They tried to school immediately. But after 15 mins. the smallest Glowlight (1") started chasing and nipping at the top fin of the bigger Pristella Tetra.
I separated them for now.
Is this normal? Is it because I have too few Pristella Tetra?
Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
these tetras you speak of the pristella tetra needs to be in group of 5 or more so that the aggression is spread out an they can establish a hierarchy. this will dissipate the aggression but wont totally remove it. they will always chase one another an stuff but will most likely leave the other fish alone. my buenos aires tetra's are little monsters but they only fight amongst themselves. they do not bother anyone else but the plants.
I've only kept glowlight tetras once (as in one setup) - had a school of 9 in a 45 gallon and they constantly harassed other fish. I got rid of them. I know others have had great experiences with them, but I certainly didn't.
