co2 diffusion with cannister filter
I am installing a pressurized co2 injection system on my 90 gallon planted aquarium.
I have looked at the variety of co2 diffusers and reactors. All of the diffusion devices involve passing the co2 through lots of baffles / bioballs / spirals etc.
It seemed to me that I could acomplish the same thing by injecting the co2 into the input of my under the tank cannister filter. It would then get sucked across all of the filter media and would get further diffused by the motor.
Am I overlooking a reason that this wouldn't work?
Only problem with diy manual CO2 injection is how one will count the bubble to ensure you are not overdoing/under doing unless have CO2 pass thru independent bubble counter?
I don't see anything you're overlooking...but LOL.... Why do you see the need to hook up an expensive CO2 system to begin with? If you have issues with the plants CO2 may not even be your answer to it (not knowing your tank details here).
One misconception, if CO2 levels are high O2 is low. Water can high levels of CO2 & O2. You are on the right track. The CO2 should be injected into the water intake of the canister in the tank. By the time the CO2 makes it thru the canister it should be fully dissolved into the water.
