Cabomba too tall for tank?

So I bought a few plants to start my fish tank, and the one that concerns me is the cabomba. One of the stalks was an inch or two shy of the top of the water when I bought it, however, I wasn't expecting it to grow so fast. Now, I have 2 stalks that are bent in all kinds of weird shapes around the tank because it's too tall to fit underwater otherwise. Should I trim them? Or just let them grow? Cut the stalk in half and replant it?

Just cut them back and plant the cuttings and they should grow

i keep it im my livebearer tank and i dont bother planting it i just remove handfuls when it gets too thick it just grows to fast to keep up with unless plant molesting fish are involved

You can trim the stuff any way you want to really. It helps if you want to keep it planted to cut the tops and replant once in a while to keep the bottoms looking their best.

You have prchased one of the truly outstanding plants known to the aquarium hobby. Easily propogated (via cuttings), easy to keep, vigorous grower, what more could we ask for? This plant can be anchored in the substrate or used as a floater. As a floater, it will provide a hiding place for small fry and other small, shy fish. Gouramis may also use the plant to help anchor their bubble nests. As an anchored plant, many egg-scatterers will entrust their progeny to the leaves of this plant. Good choice and good luck.
